What made rallies in those days so interesting and amazing - in contrast to today’s competion it was struggle against mountain, weather, car and time. In this book you will find an explanation why all these men and women were fascinated from rallying in the europaen mountains. The Alpine Rally in its wide variety have confused everybody, but now all the many mysteries have been clarified in the new book "Alpine Trials & Rallies". It is not a reprint or compilation of old newspaper reports, but explains how it all started, and why the Alpine idea spread from country to country. The book not only tells who won and who lost but it also gives the story of what the various organizers did and why. The author successfully weighed the importance of the various events which is reflected in the space allocated to them.I like the selection of fine photographs, and the very pleasing lay-out of the English book which I find superior to the German version which on the other hand is bigger and gives more detailsand has a far greater number of photos.
