Hyundai, Citroen, Ford and Volkswagen put together competitive machinery but in the early rounds it was defending champions VW who set the pace, with wins switching between Ogier and Latvala.

It wasn’t until round 9, Rallye Deutchland, that Neuville managed to put the Hyundai on the top step, although normal service was resumed in Australia as VW completed a clean sweep.
