Superbly illustrated with over 100 photographs from either his own collection or those of his associates, it admirably describes how significantly fire appliances have developed over the last 50 years. It also shows how successive mergers have resulted in larger brigades with much more standardised fleets, compared to the variety and individuality that existed at the end of the war.
