As American Power Conversion Corporation (APCC) began to flourish after several very lean start-up years, Bud Lyon began to feel the need to diversify. As we might expect a world-class car enthusiast to do, he began to assemble an internationally admired collection of cars. At the same time, again based on his own automotive enthusiasms, he bought several imported car dealerships in the Boston area and reconstituted them to his own very high standards as Lyon-Waugh Auto Group.

Now, in this book commissioned by Bud Lyon’s wife Thelma, David E. Davis presents the Bud Lyon story as only “the dean of automotive journalism” can do. The project, which was launched in April 2009, became a race against time, the goal to publish before doctors’ predictions of Bud’s possible demise due to deteriorating health. With the help of art director and production manager Larry Crane, the book is now out, and the story of the consummate auto enthusiast is available for all to discover.
