Racers is a collection of reminiscences of 25 drivers from the 1950s, '60s and '70s, who all raced for the sheer joy of competing and were, in the main, serious amateur competitors. The emphasis is on those who competed for the love of racing rather than financial motives. Recorded by the author in interview, the drivers tell their own stories in their own words. From Goodwood to Le Mans, their experiences both on and off the track are enthralling, insightful and often laugh-out-loud hilarious.

Anthony Pritchard writes in his introduction that the drivers enjoyed their racing days immensely, and that they were probably the happiest days of their lives. Probably the most frightening as well according to Peter Bond, one of the drivers featured in the book. But that was what it was all about - driving on a road circuit in the wet, finishing the race, keeping your cool, and maybe beating a bit of a star.

The memories of the drivers are impressive in their detail and accuracy, and they can be forgiven if, with the passage of time, they have all become incredibly quick, hugely distinguished, daring race aces. This is one of the great advantages of age.

At 432 pages long, with over 300 photographs, this book is an important record of post-war British racing in the words of those who were there at the time. It is limited to 550 copies and available in both a clothbound and a leatherbound edition.
