Casy Stoner won the final MotoGP championship under the 800cc formula in the same dominant manner in which he won the first back in 2007, and proved that he is a rare talent. The Aussie and the Honda were the perfect combination, but Jorge Lorenzo didn't relinquish his crown without a fight. The expected challenge from the Italian dream of Valentino Rossi and Ducati didn't materialise. They suffered a nightmare season with just one rostrum finish amid must changing of chassis designs.
The second season of Moto2 saw improved lap times but maintained the cose racing of its first year. The title was decided at the last round between the ever-more-astonishing Marc Marquez and early-season pace-setter Stefan Bradi. The final season of 125s, the last of the two strokes also went down to the wire before Nico Terol was crowned.
