An unique pictorial record of British lorries in the post-war period up to 1960. This was the period when the British Commercial Vehicle industry was at its peak. With a few exceptions the photographs reproduced in this book are exclusive working shots captured on film by the Author, Peter Davies, during the fifties and early sixties. They recall many types that have long since vanished from our roads such as Sentinel, Vulcan & Bristol. The book commences with a general look back in time to working conditions & operations prevailing at the time before prior to a series of chapters that illustrate the haulage vehicles of the day under the headings of Fourwheelers, Sixwheelers, Artics & Eightwheelers. This is a very limited reprint of the book originally published by Nynehead back in the 1980s under its Roundoak imprint. 128p. 250 b/w & colour images. h/b.
