John Snow was born to wealth, power and influence. Australian John Snow raced cars in Australia and Europe under the storm clouds of an approaching war. He won at Bathurst's Mount Panorama, he raced at Spa in Belgium, he raced with many of the Grand Prix greats of the era including the brilliant Tazio Nuvolari, the Michael Schumacher of his day. He played an important role in the move of Australian road racing onto the mainland. He imported many good racing cars, and his cars dominated pre-war Australian races. His racing career bridged the time between triple Australian Grand Prix winner Bill Thompson in the 1930s and triple World Champion Jack Brabham in the 1950s160s. And then like one in six Australians, he went to war along with huge numbers of his racing colleagues.

About The Author

John Medley is an avid researcher into Australia's motor racing past, a motor racing historian, cofounder of Australia's very first all historic race meeting and a longtime racer of historic cars. His other books include 'The 50 Year History of the Australian Grand Prix' (in which he played a small part) and "Bathurst, Cradle of Australian Motor racing' (in which he played a large part). Careful research, including interviews of the main participants, has produced this book of a time and people long gone - when Australia was fully British and motor racing chaps had fun in the sun despite that awful Hitler fellow.
